Venture People Launches New Webinar on the Misdiagnosis of Women with ADHD and Autism

Understanding the signs that are too often missed.

Venture People is pleased to announce an upcoming online webinar,“You Seem Normal To Me: Unmasking Misdiagnosis of Women with ADHD and Autism,” delivered by Dr Lucy Brierly, taking place on 24 September. This insightful session will explore why many women with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) remain undiagnosed for years, often receiving alternative diagnoses or having their experiences overlooked altogether.

Research and lived experience continue to demonstrate that ADHD and autism can present differently in females, leading many women to spend decades wondering why they feel different before finally receiving answers. This webinar aims to shine a light on these often-hidden experiences and provide practical guidance for those seeking greater understanding.

During the session, participants will explore:

  • How autism presents differently in girls and women.
  • The impact of masking and social camouflage behaviours.
  • Why ADHD symptoms in females are frequently overlooked.
  • The overlap between ADHD and autism.
  • Signs that neurodivergence may have gone unrecognised into adulthood.
  • The emotional and practical impact of receiving a diagnosis later in life.
  • Available support, treatment options, resources, and peer networks. [eventbrite.com]

The webinar is designed for women who suspect they may be neurodivergent, those who have recently received a diagnosis, parents of children with ADHD or autism, and professionals working across health, education, and support services. Attendees will leave with greater awareness, valuable insights, and information about the support available to help them move forward with confidence. [eventbrite.com]

At Venture People, we are committed to creating opportunities for learning, connection, and understanding. By raising awareness of female neurodiversity, we hope to empower more women to recognise their strengths, access appropriate support, and feel less alone in their journey.
