Recruitment and Onboarding
Clear guidance for applicants joining and starting work with Venture People.
Recruitment and Onboarding
Venture People is committed to recruiting people who share our values and want to make a positive difference in the lives of the people we support.
This page explains what to expect during recruitment, onboarding and the early stages of joining the team.
Our aim is to make the process clear, supportive and values-led, so applicants understand the role, the standards expected and the support available from the start.
Applying for a Role
If you are interested in working with Venture People, you can view current vacancies and apply for a role that matches your skills, experience and interests.
During the application process, we look for people who are compassionate, reliable, respectful and committed to person-centred support.
Experience in health, social care, mental health, learning disability, autism or complex needs support may be helpful, but personal values, attitude and willingness to learn are also important.
Recruitment Process
The recruitment process is designed to help us understand your experience, values and suitability for the role.
It may include:
- application review
- interview
- discussion about your experience and motivation
- role-specific questions
- values-based questions
- safer recruitment checks
- references
- right to work checks
The process also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and understand more about Venture People, the role and the people we support.
Safer Recruitment
Venture People works with adults who may have complex needs, so safer recruitment is an important part of our process.
Before starting work, candidates may need to complete relevant checks, provide references and confirm their right to work.
These checks help us maintain safe, consistent and responsible services for the people we support, families, referrers, commissioners and partners.
Starting With Venture People
Once recruitment checks are complete, new colleagues are supported through an onboarding process that introduces them to Venture People, their role and the standards expected.
This may include:
- welcome information
- induction
- mandatory training
- service-specific information
- policies and procedures
- safeguarding expectations
- health and safety guidance
- introduction to colleagues and managers
- shadowing where appropriate
Induction and Training
Induction helps new colleagues understand how Venture People works and how to provide safe, person-centred support.
Training may cover key areas such as safeguarding, professional boundaries, mental health awareness, trauma-informed support, positive behaviour support, communication, health and safety, recording, risk awareness and person-centred planning.
Additional role-specific training may be provided depending on the service, location and support needs of the people using the service.
Shadowing and Support
New colleagues may have opportunities to shadow experienced team members before working more independently.
This helps new staff understand daily routines, support plans, communication styles, risk management, service expectations and the practical realities of the role.
Managers and colleagues are available to offer guidance, answer questions and help new team members build confidence.
Supervision and Development
Venture People aims to support colleagues beyond their first few weeks in post.
Ongoing support may include regular supervision, team meetings, reflective practice, coaching, feedback and opportunities for learning and development.
This helps staff continue to build skills, maintain safe practice and provide consistent support to the people using Venture People’s services.
Working in a Values-Led Way
Working at Venture People means supporting people with dignity, respect and compassion.
Colleagues are expected to work in a person-centred way, recognise each person’s strengths, support independence and contribute to safe, responsive and high-quality services.
Our values guide the way we work with the people we support, families, colleagues, referrers and partners.
Career Development
Venture People values colleagues who want to learn, grow and build a meaningful career in health and social care.
Depending on the role and service, there may be opportunities to develop specialist knowledge in mental health, learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, trauma-informed support, positive behaviour support, clinical practice or leadership.
